Why this size
A cake pop has no flat top — the image has to curve over a ball, and the bigger the disc is against the pop, the more it has to bend. Past a point it creases. That is why pop images are sold small, from 1 to 1.5 inches, for pops of about 1.25 to 1.5 inches.
For a bigger picture, flatten the front of the pop slightly before dipping, or use a mould with a flat face.
How to put an edible image on cake pops

Cut the circles first
Have every circle cut and off its backing before you dip — the coating sets fast. - 2
Dip the pop
Dip in melted candy melts or chocolate and let the excess drip off. - 3
Apply while it is wet
Lay the image on the front while the coating is still wet, so it sets in place. - 4
Hold until set
Stand the pop upright and leave it until the coating is firm.
Tips that save a sheet
- Work in small batches — the image must go on before the coating sets.
- Faces and photos need the 1.5 inch size on a flattened pop.
