Why this design works
The lion is a face, not an animal. Full-body animal illustrations are the standard for jungle party artwork and they are exactly what fails at 2.5 inches, where legs and tails become three pixels of brown. A face with a mane reads from across a room. The leaves use the same logic: the splits are cut out of the leaf in the background colour rather than drawn on as lighter lines, because a drawn line at this scale fills in and the leaf goes back to being a green blob.
What to put in the centre
The blank centre is the point of the design. These are three that work, and why:

- The obvious pairing with a first birthday, and it fits on two short lines.
- “Theo is 3”
- Name and age. The canopy leaves plenty of centre for both.

What do I print it on?
Cardstock at 250–300gsm for a paper topper on a stick, or an edible icing sheet if it will sit directly on buttercream and be eaten. Edible printing needs a printer dedicated to edible ink — you cannot use one that has had regular ink through it. Print at 100% or "actual size", never "fit to page", which silently shrinks the topper.
Anything to watch when printing this design?
Greens print noticeably darker than they appear on screen, more so on edible sheets than on card. If you want the canopy lighter, drop the topper onto a cream background rather than trying to correct it at the printer.
