Why this design works
Deep navy with gold stars is a children’s design that photographs properly, which most children’s artwork does not. Bright primaries under indoor party lighting go flat; a dark ground with metallic-look accents holds its contrast. The planets are illustrated rather than photographic, so they stay readable when the design is reduced to a cupcake disc.
What to put in the centre
The blank centre is the point of the design. These are three that work, and why:

- Name and age, set large. The star field frames it without competing.

Cardstock at 250–300gsm for a paper topper on a stick, or an edible icing sheet if it will sit directly on buttercream and be eaten. Edible printing needs a printer dedicated to edible ink — you cannot use one that has had regular ink through it. Print at 100% or "actual size", never "fit to page", which silently shrinks the topper.
Anything to watch when printing this design?
The navy ground is ink-heavy on edible sheets. Allow full drying time before cutting, and expect it to print a touch lighter than it looks on screen.
