Why this design works
One big stegosaurus rather than a scene, because a dinosaur topper is judged by a four year old from across the room. The back plates are the giveaway — no other shape reads as “dinosaur” so fast — and they are drawn in a warm orange so the silhouette still separates from the green at 2 inches. The footprints walking along the bottom give a round disc an up and a down, so it never goes on a cupcake sideways.

Put the age in the centre with the name underneath — “Three-rex” and “Roar, I’m 4” both fit. The footprints give the disc a bottom, so it always goes on the right way up.

What size should this birthdays topper be?

What do I print it on?
Cardstock at 250–300gsm for a paper topper on a stick, or an edible icing sheet if it will sit directly on buttercream and be eaten. Edible printing needs a printer dedicated to edible ink — you cannot use one that has had regular ink through it. Print at 100% or "actual size", never "fit to page", which silently shrinks the topper.
Anything to watch when printing this design?
Greens print darker on edible sheets than on screen. Print one test disc: if the stegosaurus comes out heavy, use a paler buttercream rather than trying to lighten it at the printer.
