Why this size
An Oreo measures about 1.75 inches across — Double Stuf has more filling, not a wider biscuit — so one image size fits both. Printing a quarter inch smaller than the biscuit leaves an even ring of the embossed edge showing, which frames the picture and forgives a cut that is a fraction off-centre.
Suppliers split between 1.5 and 1.25 inch circles for plain Oreos. 1.5 inches covers more of the top and suits photos and faces; 1.25 inches keeps more biscuit on show and suits initials or a logo. A dipped Oreo is wider than the biscuit inside it, which is why dipped Oreos take a 2 inch image.
How to put an edible image on Oreos

Print and cut
Print at 100% scale onto an icing sheet and cut the circles with a punch, scissors or a cutting machine following the cut file. - 2
Make the biscuit tacky
An Oreo is too dry for the sheet to grip on its own. Brush the top very lightly with thinned corn syrup or a touch of water — tacky, not wet. - 3
Place and smooth
Peel the circle from its backing, centre it, and smooth it down from the middle outwards with a dry fingertip. - 4
Let it set
Leave the Oreos uncovered for a few minutes so the image bonds before you stack or bag them.
Tips that save a sheet
- Too much liquid dissolves an icing sheet — brush on less than you think you need.
- If the circles cling to the backing sheet, a few seconds in the freezer usually lets them peel cleanly.
