What resolution do edible cake toppers need?

Aim for 300 DPI at the finished print size for sharp edges and readable detail on icing sheets, wafer paper, and cupcake discs. The checker compares your image against this standard for each topper size.

How many pixels does an 8-inch topper need?

Roughly 2400 pixels across the shortest side, which is 8 inches multiplied by 300 DPI. Round toppers need enough pixels across the full diameter, so the checker measures the shortest side of your image.

Is the image quality checker free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up. Your image is analysed in your browser to estimate print sharpness at different topper sizes before you commit an icing sheet.

Why does my edible print look blurry?

Usually the source image does not have enough pixels for the print size, so it is stretched when printed. Use a larger original, reduce the print size, or use the image for smaller cupcake discs instead.

Does the embedded DPI of a file matter?

No — the actual pixel dimensions are what matter, not the DPI tag stored in the file. The checker uses real pixel dimensions to tell you the largest size that will still print sharply.
